Ghana, known as the "Gateway to Africa," is a country steeped in vibrant culture and profound history. As one of the first African nations to gain independence, Ghana holds a special place in the heart of the continent.

During the trip, you'll experience live performances that showcase these energetic and soulful art forms.

  • Cuisine: Ghanaian food is a flavorful journey of spices and textures. Staples like jollof rice, fufu, banku, and kebabs are must-tries. Be prepared to enjoy rich stews, grilled meats, and fresh seafood that highlight the best of West African culinary traditions.

We'll visit the Manhyia Palace, where you'll learn about the Ashanti people's rich history, their resistance to colonial rule, and the significance of the Golden Stool.

Côte d'Ivoire: A Melting Pot of Cultures and Traditions

Côte d'Ivoire, known for its diverse ethnic groups and vibrant traditions, is a country where modernity meets deep-rooted customs. From bustling cities to serene coastal towns, the Ivorian experience is one of contrasts and beauty.

  • Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro: This architectural marvel is one of the largest churches in the world, modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. Both Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire have rich traditions that are reflected in their daily life and social customs. As we journey through these countries, it’s important to be aware of and respect these cultural norms:

  • Greetings: In Ghana, greetings are an important social ritual. When meeting someone, it's customary to shake hands and ask about their well-being. In Côte d'Ivoire, a friendly “Bonjour” followed by a handshake or a double kiss on the cheek (for closer acquaintances) is common.

  • Attire: Modesty is appreciated, especially when visiting religious or historical sites. Wearing traditional clothing like kente cloth in Ghana or pagne in Côte d'Ivoire can be a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture.
